Girl Scouts Team With Thrift way and Local Car Dealer to Sell Cookies
February 25, 2004 (Portland, OR) - Local Girl Scouts are teaming with Wilsonville Chevrolet to sell cookies and raise awareness about the Girl Scouts. The girls will be selling cookies at the Wilsonville Thriftway from 8am - 8pm on March 5th, 6th, and 7th. They will be holding a contest to see who can guess the number of boxes of cookies that can fit into a Chevrolet Colorado that will be present for viwing at Thriftway. A prize of cookies and a gift certificate from Thriftway will be given to the person who makes the best guess.
This is the last weekend the Girl Scouts will be selling cookies and a great opportunity to get your box of Thin Mints or Samoas. There will be a number of troops present from the Wilsonville area who will be sharing stories about their activities in the Girl Scouts.
Heather Law, the Director of Products and Store Sales for Girl Scouts, Columbia River Council, stresses the importance of the cookie program to the girls stating, “Girls do more than just sell cookies. They learn marketing skills, leadership, planning, money management, and most importantly they gain confidence in themselves. These are all skills that they will need and utilize as they grow older.” Money from the cookie program pays for events, activities, camps, and training for volunteers.
The Girl Scouts, Thriftway, and Wilsonville Chevrolet are excited about this event and are hoping to see a large turnout. While the troops will earn money for activities they are also learning to be active members of the community. This event will be running March 5th, 6th, and 7th.
